The Romans (Part 1)
In the early 1970's, Al Wiseman decided to do a series of drawings for a proposed book on the fall of the Roman empire. Soon Al began sketching and sketching and sketching. And then he sketched some more.So after the dust had settled, what was the outcome of all this work?
Well... a lot a naked ladies, but no book deal.
I'm not sure if there was supposed to be a story to go with the drawings or if the artwork was meant to stand alone. But judging from the images I've seen, it would've been a swell book either way.
Above: The man sure could draw, no?

I just love the way you are bringing to light whole areas of AW's career that I never knew existed!
Keep up the great work!
Thanks Bill!
I'm just amazed at how much work Al turned out (especially in the early-'70s).
Did he draw around the clock or something?
