Confessions of a Little Old Lady in Tennis Shoes (Part 5)

Here's a nice Wiseman drawing from the 1974 book Confessions of a Little Old Lady in Tennis Shoes.

Yes, there's some mighty fine linework in this piece. It reminds me a bit of Will Elder during his Goodman Beaver period (with some Little Annie Fanny also in thrown in the mix).

Oh, and here's the Betty Fisher poem it's illustrating:

Um... wha?

I think you nailed it there Bill.
I can remember sneaking looks at Playboy
magazines my father had.
I was just looking at the cartoons ;-)
Actually I always liked Didini, Sobol, and Adams.

Jim,
Your dad was friends with Eldon Dedini, no?

Did he know any of the other Playboy artists?

Eldon was a very good friend to my family when I was growing up.
Eldon was able to make you laugh on any subject you could think of.
Eldon passed away recently, I am very sad to see him go.
A couple of my recent birthday parties
included Eldon and Gus Arriola.

As far as the other Playboy cartoonists, I am not sure. My sisters might know.
I would think Al may know a few, I will ask another source.

Bill, I just talked with my Step-mother, she suggests you research "The Black Hole of Calcutta" somewhere in New York.
It appears that's where a lot of the New York crowd of cartoonist hung out/worked.
The name refers to some offices, not a bar/cafe.
It's posible there were a few Playboy alumni there.

Good hunting.

Jim,
I'll do a Google search and see what comes up.

Thanks!
